The Minister said that in the past, this location was a small airfield when the Japanese invaded Cambodia and used it as an airport to support the air war. When the war ended, this location was used to transport agricultural goods from Pursat province to Phnom Penh during the Lon Nol era, when most of the national roads were occupied by the Khmer Rouge and could not be transported or traveled through.
After the liberation on January 7, this location was stopped being used and some people lived here. Mr. Keo Ratanak said that in 2018, under his own initiative, this location was designated as state property for development and construction as a stadium, and was strongly supported by Samdech Techo Hun Sen when he visited garment factory workers on March 20, 2019.
His Excellency added that the work we need to do is not only this stadium, but also a shopping mall, restaurants, cafes, electric car charging stations... to attract the attention of investors who have invested in Cambodia, generally speaking, and specifically in the Krakor Special Economic Zone, so that there are places to eat, walk, and exercise appropriately.
At the same time, the people of Pursat province, who support the win-win policy throughout the country, want to see Pursat province develop and prosper, especially in Krakor district, which plans to build a second factory of Minebea (Japan) in the future. The factories currently under construction include: a Ford car assembly and assembly factory, a truck assembly factory, a garment factory, and a solar farm, etc.
Of course, this stadium will provide many benefits, especially to young people, in line with the high attention of the Royal Government of Cambodia on the field of physical education and sports through playing sports and installing sports equipment in public places to inspire people to love sports, enjoy sports and play sports under the shade of peace, as the slogan "Sports bring peace" We have peace so we can play sports. He also asked the engineers to work on 11 locations so that the 11 commune councils of Krakor district can join in the tree planting movement at this location, and he will also join in planting.
Taking advantage of the occasion, His Excellency Keo Ratanak also presented gifts to 697 retired participants in Krakor District, each receiving 20 kilograms of rice, 1 box of noodles, and 50,000 riel in cash.
It should be noted that the construction project of "Samdech Techo Krakor Stadium" using funds from the Electricity of Cambodia Social Fund, implemented by KIM MEX CONSTRUCTION & INVESTMENT Co., Ltd. on an area of approximately 25 hectares includes: 2 large-sized football tables, 3 small-sized football tables, 6 volleyball tables, 3 basketball tables, 4 badminton tables, 1 stadium for organizing programs or other events, 1 children's playground, a recreation area, a gym, 1 security police station, 6 bathrooms, 1 changing room, car parking, motorcycle parking and 4 ponds.
